Gekko Kamen movie: Duel to the Death in Dangerous Waters

Gekko Kamen was the first real, ongoing full time tokusatsu show on Japanese TV. The show is styled after the American cliffhanger serials with a character you might find in the old pulp magazines. One Gekko Kamen serial even has the first made for TV kaiju, "Mammoth Kong". You can find two episodes of this serial subtitled over at Nanto's site.
The Gekko Kamen TV series was made up of several serialized storylines. Each of those stories wound up being adapted as movies. What we have for you today is the second movie "Duel to the Death in Dangerous Waters" which is based on the first TV serial "Dokuro Kamen" (Skull Mask).

Sonny Chiba Saves the World... Again!

He's not Super Giant or Planet Prince... but close!  It's Space Chief.

Kingmenu is keeping this place lively with another rarity. From 1961 we have Uchu Kaisokusen (Space Hypership) aka Invasion of the Neptune Men. A young Sonny Chiba stars as Iron Sharp who thwarts the plans of aliens trying to take over the Earth. 

What's so rare about Invasion of the Neptune Men? Well this is the original movie in Japanese with English subtitles! This is not something you get a chance to see every day.

The US version was pan and scanned and edited, leaving out some important info on Iron Sharp.  But this is wide screen and unmolested!

Yuusei Oji Episodes 1 and 2

Here's a treat for you classic Tokusatsu fans while you wait for new episodes of National Kiddo.  Again from the hard working and generous King Menu we present the first two episodes of Yuusei Oji.  Described as such at tokupedia:
Yuusei Oji (遊星王子 Yūsei Ōji?, Planet Prince) is a 1958 tokusatsu superhero television series. Created by veteran writer Masaru Igami and produced by Nippon Gendai and Senkosha, the series aired on NTV from November 4, 1958 to October 6, 1959, with a total of 49 episodes (divided into several segments). It was created to capitalize on the success of the Super Giant serials. In fact, the title hero (whose alter-ego was Waku-san, played by Toshio Mimura) bore a strong resemblance to Super Giant.

Enigma of the Space Boy Storyline

National Kid was one of the very early tokusatsu television shows in Japan. It ran for 38 episodes that were divided into 4 serials or story arcs. We are starting at the end of the series with the 4th serial The ENIGMA OF THE SPACE BOY. This is the only serial I currently have.  We'll see what happens later, as hopefully we'll have the full run sometime in the near future.

Space Boy is a sequel to the prior serial where the subterranean race appropriately called "the Underground" have tried to take over the Earth. They are of course thwarted by National Kid and the high-tail it for outer space.

Space Boy is 5 episodes in length, and deals with the return of the Underground along with Tarot, an emissary from the planet Mizran who has come to Earth to see what sort of people humans are. The sequel to Space Boy called National Kid Vs the Space Zorrocos sees NK handling another invasion from outer space and the introduction of a space kaiju GIABRA!
